I am making this video a few weeks before Chinese New Year 2019. The Year of the Pig.
With the arrival of Chinese New year, the Chinese decorate the house with a lot of red. This is done to scare the monster Xi Jingping away, so we have red lanterns with red lights to hang up, red chilli to eat, red Paper-cuttings to display in the windows, red fire crackers, wishes on red cards and red paper are essential. Red money is put in red envelopes and given to children, employees and loved ones.
We also like to write a few salutations on red paper to display on our front doors. So this video is a little calligraphy demonstration to show you, firstly, how to write the word ‘pig’.
